President Barack Obama has set out a plan to reduce the amount or use of nuclear weapons, in an attempt to rid the world of the nuclear threat once and for all- over an extended period of time of course.
The United States military and government, as well as the governments of other countries around the world, have agreed to this plan, because they all understand that nuclear weapons are the most direct threat to the existence of any nation. While some people argue that this is not a very smart choice and that it would make the United States weaker, the United States has more conventional weaponry than any other country in the world, and the military cannot imagine a scenario in the near future where nuclear arms would be necesarry. If anything, the existence of nuclear weaponry is higher of a threat than not having it, and with the current missile capabilities, nuclear weapons are not needed as nuclear deterrents any longer. I personally find it amazing that the world is finally doing something towards reducing nuclear weaponry, and I hope that this trend continues.

I personally believe that disarming massive amounts of our nuclear arsenal is one of the worst things we can do. We live in a chaotic world where instead of disarming nations are arming. Its like it was back before WWII when nations were emerging and stretching their military muscle. We need those nukes. Why? Because whether people like it or not the actually are a deterrent. Other nations do not attack us or negotiate from positions of power because of these weapons. It makes military actions a cautious and less tremulous world because we have massive weapons such as Hydrogen bombs that can wipe out entire cities. They keep us safe and enable us to not have to fire a shot,or start a war. Not to mention where does Obama thinks hes going to put these disabled nukes??
ReplyDeleteI do not like the idea of getting rid of nuclear weapons because I think it would put the United States in a very vulnerable position. We would be susceptible to attack from another country because they would no that we have no nuclear weapons. I don't think we should have nuclear weapons so we can use them in war, I think we should have them as a threat to other countries in case they want to attack.
